Crickee at Le Web3

This week a part of the team Crickee was at Le Web3. Two days in Paris, where teams of websites around the world are meeting to present their site, share ideas, find partners ... and do a little partying!

Leweb3 Leweb307_2

There were sites and services that you know and use every day, and many more that you do not know yet. A lot of very interesting contacts with some surprises for the coming weeks on Crickee. Stay tuned ...

Platial + Frappr = the best social mapping place on the planet?

Platial_2For the fans of maps, as our CEO, founder and previous CEO of Maporama, Platial enables anyone to find, create and use meaningful maps of Places that matter to them. In summary, Platial connects people, neighborhoods, cities and countries through a citizen-driven common context that goes beyond geopolitical boundaries.

In the meantimes, Frappr was created by Brian, Kun and James at Rising Concepts, who wanted to see where all their high school and college friends went after they graduated. Frappr, for Friend Mapper, lets you see the zip code where your friends live or work, letting you find out who works in the office building next door and who lives in the apartment complex across the street.

With both you could have fun. Now frappr joins Platial Family! Together, they will soon be offering improvements in a flash widget, more social, interesting profile pages, and better notifications to make sure to know what is going on with maps and buddies.

As Crickee, they are always looking for ways to help connect family, friends, and colleagues. So, give a try to Platial and map your Crickee tribe, that's another great way to stay closer!

Crickee's wish: Go mobile, Platial, go!

Map the Wifi World with WeFi

WeFi
Originally uploaded by crickee.
If you are looking for a quick connection to Wi-Fi anywhere, anytime, with maps displaying all Wi-Fi spots in any area and locating where your friends are, WeFi makes it easy.

You download the software, and it makes it easy for you to find and connect to WiFi networks. You can contribute to the rest of the community by using the client and discovering more networks around. All this is reported to a centralized server and shared seamlessly among all users, resulting in easy connection.
You can also map your favorite hotspots, find your friends, share your WiFi with other WeFi members and do many other cool things.
Try it, map it, follow it!

Disclosure: WeFi helps to find WiFi anywhere and friends everywhere, but coffee is not yet included ;-)

Request: At this time, WeFi requires a laptop equipped with a wireless card supporting 802.11b/g or 802.11a/b/g standard with Windows XP and Service Pack 2. Mac and Vista versions of WeFi will be available soon... Great... but what about my mobile phone? ;-)

Mr. Uptime monitors sites for you

Mr Uptime
Originally uploaded by crickee.
If you were online last week you've seen a lot of timedown web sites. Quick or long nap, that's not really nice to click and go without knowing wheter the site works again.
There is a cool Firefox extension available called Mr. Uptime.
With it you can monitor sites that are currently not available, and it will notify you when the site is back up and running.

How does it work? A toolbar will appear anytime that you get "Page Not Found" message, and from that toolbar you can begin monitoring the site to see if it is back up yet. There is also a right-click menu option that will let you highlight text and watch for that text to change on the page. This would be useful for a site that is performing maintenance where there is no error, but you can still have Mr. Uptime monitor for when the text changes.

Disclosure: If you want to get the Mr. Uptime Firefox Extension... be sure to use Firefox ;-)

Tapatap is on the web and on your mobile phone at wap.tapatap.com

People are joining Tapatap to create contests amongst friends (e.g. Who's the hottest girl in our dorm?), rate crazy pictures from last night's party, and compete against the community to be the best Tapper! Yesterday, one taper won an iPhone. Not so bad ;-)

You can create your own contests to share and enter your photos to win, explore the community and see how your votes stack up.
Tap enough points and take home some goodies! Do not hesitate, enter and play user generated or sponsored contests by some of today's major consumer brands. Go and enjoy!

Symbaloo, your whole web world in a simple click

Symbaloo
Originally uploaded by crickee.
Do you remember Sputtr? (remember!).
Symbaloo is a Sputtr cousin.

Symbaloo is an easy and completely free way to start a daily internet session. Traveling information, phone numbers, translations, flight tickets, recipies, traffic information and many other usefull things you're looking for on a daily internet session are now accessible within a single click.

There are two words you need to know to use Symbaloo: drag and drop!
If you want to drag or delete a block you have to grap it in the right top and drag it to a new location or the bin. You can also exchange blocks by dragging one block on another.

Symbaloo is coming from a Greek verb meaning 'comparing'. It perfectly reflects the mission of the company and is pronounced the same as Yahoo! ;-)

Disclosure: If Symbaloo is not enough for you, you can also download the whole Internet here.
Note: Be sure to have a big hard disk ;-)
