In association with New Media Age, Intuitive Media has carried out research into its SuperClubsPLUS and GoldStar Cafe community membership.

They surveyed over 1500 children and asked how they use their mobile phones. Here are a few of the findings:
  • 72% of the children aged 7 - 13 own their own mobile phones, 53% of 8 to 9 year old own their own mobile phone,
  • Music: 29% of children say they share music with their friends via Bluetooth, 21% say they like to play music out loud in public places,
  • Safety: 23% of girls and 16% of boys said they had received bad message on their mobile phones. The messages ranged from unwanted advertising to insults from friends, bullying, rude messages and images, to scary and threatening calls;
    11% of children said their parents give them no rules about using the Internet on their mobile phones. Of those who had given rules, they related to:
    • 17% money,
    • 12% behaviour,
    • 10% talking to strangers.
