Qtek 9100_Crickee
Originally uploaded by crickee.
The Qtek 9100 hit the market at the end of 2005. It was the first "Pocket PC-Phone" to feature the brand new Windows Mobile 5 operating system.

At Crickee we've been testing this device for several months, and this is it, we managed to make it adopt a Crickee !

So give it a go, it's pretty simple:

Open your Internet Explorer and enter the following address: http://adopt.crickee.com. Just follow the instructions and you'll soon receive a SMS sent to you by Crickee.

Please read your SMS, you'll find in it a link. Be sure to click on it!

You're now downloading Crickee. You will see this message: Install this MIDlet ? Click on Yes.

You got it, go to your Java/ Midlet Manager to open your Crickee and send messages to your friends.

Don't forget that this incredible phone (almost a PC!) allows you to use Crickee with your Wi-Fi connection. If you add the fact that it has a real keyboard, I think it can really become your Crickee's friend.

Greggy’s T630 loves Crickee

big_sony-ericsson_t630
Originally uploaded by crickee.
The T630, follow-up to the old T610, has been a successful phone for a (long) while now.

Believe it or not, some guys have a $3000 laptop and still carry a good old T630 in their pocket. I'm sure of this because in the Crickee team we have one of these weirdos: Greggy.

After using Crickee for a while on different versions - where Crickee's performances were not satisfying enough - we are now confident: our Crickee can perform well even on this phone. Let's admit it, this phone really has low ressources (processor and memory).

Greggy's T630 can now adopt Crickee, here's how:

Open your WAP browser here:
Menu -> WAP -> More -> Enter address

Type the address adopt.crickee.com and follow the instructions.

You'll soon receive a SMS which will appear on your screen. Click on Yes to read it. Click on the link contained in the SMS then click on Download in the screen that appears.

I guess you can’t wait to see how crickee looks like, huh ? Just wait around fifteen seconds to get it. While you’re waiting you’ll have a message saying Downloading Crickee. It is then saved in the Games & more folder.

At the end of the download you’ll be asked Start Now? Well, you obviously should click on Yes.

If asked please select Allow Web Access. You’re now in Crickee, the only thing left to do is add contacts and send messages!

The next time you want to open your Crickee it'll be here:
Menu -> Entertainment -> Games & more

If your Crickee can't talk please make sure you have a data connection listed here:
Menu -> Connectivity -> Data comm. -> Data accounts

If you need to add a connection it will probably be here:
Menu -> Connectivity -> Data comm. -> Data accounts -> New account -> Add -> GPRS data

Contact your operator to get the right settings and you'll soon be able to play with your Crickee !

Samsung’s on fire … the E730 is crickee’s new buddy

Samsung e730_crickee
Originally uploaded by crickee.
The Samsung E730 is a wonderful phone due to a simple feature: the MP3 player is so easy to use (the buttons are accessible without opening the phone), no wonder it's a pretty successful device worldwide.

I just tried to adopt a little crickee with it. Well, if I did it so can you !

Here's the process:

Open your phone's browser here:
Menu -> Browser -> Go to URL

Type in it http://adopt.crickee.com and follow the instructions.

Crickee will soon send you a SMS with an adoption certificate. Close your browser to read it.To click on the SMS' link hit Options -> Cut Address -> Select the link (probably number 2 on the list that appears) -> OK.

Click on Install and Crickee will be yours in a matter of seconds. You'll get a message at the end of the download saying Download completed. Download more items? Just answer No.

You'll probably see this kind of message as Crickee will launch: Want to send http information ? Click on Yes.

You’re in Crickee. Now start adding contacts and send messages ;-)

The next time you want to launch crickee it'll be here:
Menu -> Application -> Java world -> Downloads -> Crickee

By the way, here's a little tip from the crickee team: to avoid warning messages such as want to send http information? go to Menu -> Applications -> Java World -> Downloads and when the cursor is on Crickee hit OPTIONS -> Application settings and say YES to all the questions!

The crickee scientists remind you that you need a data connection for crickee to live. This means you need to have at least one connection here:
Menu -> Browser -> Profile settings -> select a profile

If you don't have any contact your operator to get it fixed.

Have any question regarding this specific phone? Check out its user manual.

Unleash your Nokia N70 with Crickee !

The Nokia N70 is a pretty popular phone. Thanks to its many interesting features (3G, radio, very good screen ...) and also because it's supported by many operators.

Such a cool phone had to be crickee compliant, so at Crickee we decided to run series of tests on it.

We got our hands this morning on a model coming from a SFR (french carrier) pack. It was unlocked so we could use it with an Orange SIM card.

Ok, enough talking. Let's show you how to adopt a crickee with it:

type the address adopt.crickee.com in the web browser. To access the browser simply follow this path:
Menu -> Connectivity -> Web

Once in our WAP site just follow the instructions.

You should soon receive a SMS from crickee. Close your browser to read the SMS. You can then click on the adoption certificate contained in the SMS.

Click on Yes to install Crickee.

Then on the next screen click on Continue. You will see a security warning reminding you that Application Crickee is untrusted. Continue anyway ?, click on Yes.

Choose to install Crickee in the phone memory or memory card. You're now less than 5 seconds away (via your 3G connection) from having your own Crickee.

After the download you'll need to close your browser and open Crickee here :
Menu -> My own -> Crickee

Now all you need to do is enjoy your new Crickee!

Remember, Crickee needs a data connection to send and receive messages. Go there to check you have one:
Menu -> Connectivity -> Web -> Settings -> Change

If you have none or don't have the right settings please contact your operator to fix it.

Simple and rock solid: your old Nokia 5140 can also adopt Crickee…

Nokia 5140
Originally uploaded by crickee.
... yes guys, don't throw your Nokia 5140 away yet !

You don't need a 3-megapixel phone to have fun. So start using Crickee with your friends with this simple phone. Although not very sophisticated, it'll do the job. I'm not talking about calling or sending SMSs but using Crickee of course ;-)

Here's the crickee adoption process:

Type the address http://adopt.crickee.com in your wap brower that you'll find here:

Menu -> Services -> Go to address

Please follow the instructions of our WAP site and you will soon receive a SMS from crickee containing your adoption certificate.

You will need to close your browser (Options -> Quit -> Yes) to read this SMS.

Click on the link that's in the SMS (Options -> Use Detail -> Web address -> Go to) to download your Crickee.

You'll then see this message on your screen: Application source unknown. Continue ? Don't worry about it and click on Yes.

You can now see displayed which version of Crickee you're about to adopt. Click on Accept and the download is in progress !

Depending on your network settings you might see this warning message: allow network access? Be sure to select Yes or you won't be able to get your Crickee.

This is it, start sending free messages thanks to Crickee...

You can launch Crickee in the future here:

Menu -> Application -> Collection -> Crickee

The phone I tested was not SIM locked so I could put my french Orange SIM card. I had to configure the data connection to use Crickee though ... it wasn't that hard, I had a look at my operator's configuration page. After validating my phone number and model they sent me 2 configuration SMSs (one for WAP and one for GPRS).

You can check you have an active data connection here: Menu -> Services -> Settings -> Connection Settings -> Active service settings

Any other question ? Don't hesitate: visit Nokia's online help site.

Texting is practically nonexistent in USA

Consider this anomaly: Ecuador, with a per capita GDP of $4,300, has the United States beat when it comes to a critical wireless technology. Americans may be 10 times as wealthy, but Ecuadorians send four times as many text messages!!!!

It is a bit of chance that Crickee is also in Spanish ! Let's adopt it there?
