Cell phones become dangerous weapons

Naomi Campbell

This time it would appear that her Blackberry was the instrument of crime; her New York housekeeper has been hospitalised today with 4 staple wounds to the back of her head.

Future employees of Ms Campbell should look into taking out a personal injuries insurance and ask for hardship posting benefits.

Get Free

Free WiFi at San Francisco
Originally uploaded by crickee.
We sent you here and there some news that wifi was getting widespread and free in more and more cities... Just thought we should start to look organized on that topic, so that you can check where you live and where you go, if you have access to the ultimate freedom...

Alright, there are actually some websites following that up: MuniWireless is one of them and you can check the list (word/rtf document)

Some cities like Philadelphia, Orlando, San Francisco, San Jose... Alright this is a US cities-only list, feel free to email us/comment us with your lists around the world...
I just know that last time I went to Istanbul, the airport was totally free wifi - one of the few free wifi airports I've seen.

Obviously, this coverage will extend quickly with Fon adoption.

Now I kept the best for the end: Miami Beach... So now you can Crickee the girls you met on Miami beaches - and by Crickee I mean free text messaging right?

The Nokia N-gage Qd or how to play with games and Crickee

nokia N-gage Qd_crickee
Originally uploaded by crickee.

Some of you remember the previous Nokia N-Gage. It hasn't exactly been a hit, Nokia wanted an "all-in-one" device that gamers didn't want.

The second version, the QD, gives them what they want: the ability to play games and call buddies in one device.

The games are not too expensive, so you can give it a go. Starting today it can adopt a crickee, so I have to say that this has to be a good product, right ?

Ok, just think about it, Crickee would love to be adopted by a few of these.

Crickee is looking for a helpful teammate: Google Analytics

Google Analytics
Originally uploaded by crickee.
As anyone setting up a website, the crickee scientists would like to monitor the site activity.

We all wake up in the morning and have a look at the last stats. I usually hear our CEO Laurent Vermot-Gauchy ask "So Crickee boys, what are yesterday's stats, 1 000 000 visitors I hope ? I want the WORLD to adopt Crickee !"

We have been trying a few web-based tools to monitor what's happening on the Crickee website and the Crickee blog. But everybody seems to think that Google Analytics is today's hot tool. Ok, fine but how the hell can we use it ???

Of course we signed up for an account a few weeks ago, but it has been so successful when they launched it that it's now only available upon invitation. It's a bit like the Gmail beta program where you need to be invited by a friend to have a Google Mail (or Gmail) account.

Google analytics is integrated with the Google AdWords program, shows the keywords that perform and also gives detailed stats about the website visitors. In a word, exactly what we need ...

We need an invitation ... anyone willing to help ???

The Nokia 3660 is a funny-looking phone and likes Crickee

Hey, check out this phone.

It's not a new one and Nokia has already produced a few models with with round keyboard.

If I'm talking about this phone today it's for a simple reason: crickee works just fine on it and looks really good on its screen. Cool, right ?

What do you think of its design guys? As far as I'm concerned, I'm not really attracted ...

"Special" huh ?

Well at least Nokia tries several types on design, we can't blame them for this ...

Yet another phone which can adopt one of our little crickees !

What’s up Doc?

Doc Crickee
Originally uploaded by crickee.
The Crickee scientists have been slaving away in their labs to create new and improved Crickees. Each new batch that hatches has progressed in some way : it could be by making sure Crickee is happy in some new phones or correcting bugs, or delivering an exciting new feature.

Because Crickee is in beta there are always new and exciting things to develop while handling and correcting any previous problems. That's why we've launched the Crickee forum, in usual Crickee style, it's been baptised the Infirmary.

The Infirmary is an exciting place, it's not just a place to go to have our Doc try to explain and help resolve why Crickee keeps bugging on the Nokia 6680, it's a place to just hang out and say 'hi'.
  • Tell other Crickee users about your Crickee experiences,
  • Tell them how many friends of yours have adopted Crickee,
  • Tell them who you are using Crickee with, your sister in London, or your friend down the road.

And of course Crickee scientists are interested in reading about what you might like to see in the next batch of baby Crickees.

American beauty Motorola V3 hangs out with Crickee

Motorola v3_crickee
Originally uploaded by crickee.

In a word, the Motorola V3 is what you could call a fashion object. You bought it because you WANTED it, right ? Not because you needed such a phone.

Did I not mention ? Yes, in addition to being spectacular in its shape and design, this little baby can carry out calls for you !

There's been a bunch of versions: pink, black and who knows what's next ? Well, we do know there's an update to this phone: the V3i with new features such a s a better camera.

The good news is that the V3 (or RAZR) has been tested and approved for Crickee, along with 25 other new models.

Yes Sir, it loves Crickee ! From now on, the V3 won't feel lonely any more. Ever. Crickee will always be there ;-)
And don't worry about the little technical hitches in the US, it won't affect your strong yet small crickee !

Good news for Europeans (and people visiting Europe)!

Viviane Reding

Reacting to the 80€-an-hour incoming call (excluding the caller's own costs!) roaming nice charges of Laurent, here's some nice news coming from Viviane Reding our EU telecoms commissioner ... The 25 member states have agreed to act in order to cut (hopefully very significantly) roaming charges within Europe.
Non-surprisingly, the GSM association representing, among others, the mobile operators is particularly against this measure and is getting pretty nervous.... Looks like many good moves are happening in our wireless world...

Viviane, Crickee wants to kiss you :-)

Crickee in NYC

Crickee it's free !
Originally uploaded by crickee.
Just receive this joke from Myriam, one of my direct contacts in Viaduc.

John and Kevin are walking near Times Square in Manhattan, New York City. It's lunch hour and the streets are filled with people. Cars were honking their horns, taxicabs were squealing around corners, sirens were wailing and the sounds of the city were almost deafening.
  • Suddenly, John says, "I hear a crickee."
  • "What? You must be crazy. You couldn't possibly hear a crickee in all of this noise!"
  • "No, I'm sure of it," John says, "I heard a crikee."
  • "That's crazy," Kevin answers.
John listens carefully for a moment and then walks across the street to a big cement planter where some shrubs were growing. He looked into the bushes, beneath the branches and sure enough, he located a small crickee. His friend was utterly amazed.
  • "That's incredible," says Kevin. "You must have superhuman ears!"
  • "No," says John. "My ears are no different from yours. It all depends on what you're listening for."
  • "But that can't be!" said Kevin. "I could never hear a crickee in this noise."
  • "Yes, it's true," comes the reply. "It depends on what is really important to you. Here, let me show you."
He pulls out his pocket a few coins and discreetly dropps them on the sidewalk. Then, with the noise of the crowded street still blaring in their ears, they notice every head within twenty feet turn and look to see if the money that tinkles on the pavement is theirs. "See what I mean?" asked John. "It all depends on what's important to you and for me reduce my monthly mobile communication invoice is very important".

Crickee is at home in the Nokia 6820

Nokia 6820_crickee
Originally uploaded by crickee.

Remember, yesterday I told you about the bunch of new devices that could adopt crickee.

Among these models there's an interesting one: the Nokia 6820. It has a full keyboard that opens up vertically (the screen is therefore in the middle of the keyboard when you use it). How good is that for Crickee !!

The Crickee scientists have been testing it on the Orange network in France. If you have the 6820a, the version sold in America, it will also work fine, this is just the same phone !
